But slowly and surely silk became more widely available for other people and it eventually became fairly common because more and more silk merchants were able to sell the product. In fact these merchants were responsible for taking it far and wide, and it has been proven that some of the ancient Egyptians had access to it also. The reason for its world wide popularity is because silk has a unique color and comfort unmatched by any other fabric to this day. This is the birth of the famed ancient silk route.
